Jayne McConkey

I am an Art Therapist based in the Hope Valley in the Peak District, England, U.K.

I believe in the value of creativity and connection for growing and maintaining good mental health and wellbeing. I work in a person-centred way, that adapts to the needs of the person/group that I am working with.

“Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.” (Pablo Picasso)

“You can’t use up creativity. The more you use, the more you have.” (Maya Angelou)

“Art can permeate the very deepest part of us, where no words exist.” (Eileen Miller)

“Using our creativity is therapeutic, not because we need to be fixed, but because we need to be expressive.” (Julia Cameron)

“Art is a constant agent of transformation and is indeed the soul’s drive to health.” (Cathy Malchiodi)

“Trusting the process is based on a belief that something valuable will emerge when we step into the unknown.” (Shaun McNiff)

“It is in playing and only in playing that the individual child or adult is able to be creative and to use the whole personality, and it is only in being creative that the individual discovers the self.” (Donald Woods Winnicott)
